2025 AEF Youth Awards

  • The Africa-Europe Foundation

The 2025 edition of the Youth Awards was successfully completed with a reach of 401 applications from countries across Africa and Europe. 373 applications from Africa and 28 from Europe.

Eight (8) proposals were selected distinguished by their innovative approach, practical feasibility, and meaningful contribution to advancing the Africa-Europe partnership. The projects aligned perfectly with the vision and objectives of the AEF #RoadtoLuanda25 campaign.

  • 6 awardees will receive a grant of 5,000 Euros
  • 2 awardees will receive an exclusive award of 10,000 Euros for high-impact, visibility initiatives

Youthmakers Hub

Country: Greece
Project Title : “Your voice, your road” campaign for the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective and its mobile app AU-EU Youth Voices Lab App.

The “Your Voice, Your Road” campaign, aims to amplify young people’s voices ahead of the AU–EU Summit. It combines digital outreach across social media platforms with youth-led dialogues hosted on the AU–EU Youth Voices Lab App, which connects and trains young people across Africa and Europe. The campaign will culminate in a youth-driven Policy Brief presenting key priorities to AU–EU stakeholders.


Alhanislam Media Limited

Country: Nigeria
Project Title: The Bridge Series

The Bridge Series, led by Alhanislam Media in partnership with the TrueMyVoice community, is a youth-driven digital storytelling campaign highlighting peace, security, and solidarity between Africa and Europe.

It uses spoken word, podcasts, and multilingual storytelling to humanise Africa–Europe relations and showcase young people as agents of peace and collaboration. Centred on the “What Makes You Human” podcast and the spoken word piece “The Bridge”, the campaign will feature videos and youth contributions from across both continents.


Natiora Defenders

Country: Madagascar
Project Title: Reinforcement of youth-led environmental initiatives and collaboration between Europe and Africa

Reinforcement of Youth-Led Environmental Initiatives and Collaboration between Europe and Africa, led by Natiora Defenders in Madagascar, aims to connect and empower young environmental leaders across both continents through storytelling and digital engagement.

The project will launch a Green Talent Hub, a digital platform for sharing opportunities and mapping youth-led initiatives—, alongside a podcast highlighting local conservation stories and a video collaboration with a French living in Madagascar influencer showcasing Madagascar’s Ocean Defenders.


Live Love Africa

Country: France
Project Title: Live Love Marseille

Live Love Marseille, is a youth-driven initiative launching a cross-continental community to spotlight changemakers advancing collaboration between Africa and Europe. The project will build the Live Love Africa hub to share authentic stories of young people driving impact in climate action, culture, entrepreneurship, and civic innovation.

Through social media campaigns and partnerships with Live Love Marseille and Live Love Spain, it aims to engage over 10,000 youth and release five multimedia stories culminating in a short film, “Voices of the Road to Luanda.”


Stowelink Foundation

Country:Kenya
Project Title: CDs 365 Project Phase 5 Africa-European Collaboration

NCDs 365 Project Phase 5 – Africa–Europe Collaboration, led by the Stowelink Foundation in Kenya, expands the organisation’s flagship health initiative into a cross-continental effort promoting youth leadership in tackling non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The project will unite African and European youth through digital dialogues, short video campaigns, and a new Storytelling Hub on the NCDs 365 app, where young people can share health challenges and innovations from their contexts. Targeting at least 50,000 participants, the initiative aims to strengthen Africa–Europe cooperation on health equity.


Femme Incroyable ASBL

Country: Angola/Belgium
Project Title: Voices of Change: Youth Empowering Women Across Angola and Belgium

Voices of Change: Youth Empowering Women Across Angola and Belgium, led by Femme Incroyable ASBL, is a youth-driven digital campaign uniting young people from Angola and Belgium to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality ahead of the AU–EU Summit.

The project features a storytelling and art competition, a cross-border youth dialogue, and a multimedia campaign highlighting women’s resilience and leadership. Selected stories will be published in a bilingual e-book and launched at events in Luanda and Brussels, fostering cross-continental solidarity and amplifying youth voices in advancing the AU–EU agenda on gender equality.


Sustainable Cooperation for Peace & Security A.P.S. E.T.S.

Country: Italy
Project Title: Youth Voices for the AU–EU Partnership – Ethiopian Perspectives on the YPS Agenda

Youth Voices for the AU–EU Partnership – Ethiopian Perspectives on the YPS Agenda, led by Sustainable Cooperation for Peace and Security in partnership with Positive Peace Ethiopia, is a youth-led initiative amplifying Ethiopian contributions to the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) Agenda ahead of the AU–EU Summit.

Taking place in Addis Ababa in October 2025, the project will train 20 young leaders on the five YPS pillars, facilitate policy drafting workshops, and produce a Joint Youth Statement with recommendations for AU–EU cooperation. The initiative aims to reach over 10,000 people, enhancing youth visibility in peacebuilding and strengthening Africa–Europe civil society collaboration.


The Danish Youth Council

Project Title: Collaborate - African and Danish youth engaged to create sustainable change

Collaborate – African and Danish Youth Engaged to Create Sustainable Change, led by the Danish Youth Council (DUF) in partnership with Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust (Zimbabwe) and Youth Alive! Kenya, is part of the cross-continental PARTICIPATE! programme promoting youth democracy, dialogue, and civic engagement.

The initiative will produce a short documentary and social media clips showcasing Africa–Europe youth cooperation during the Collaborate Seminar in Denmark, which brings together youth leaders from Denmark, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia. By engaging over 13,000 young people through alumni networks and social media, the project aims to highlight how youth-led partnerships are strengthening democratic participation and cross-continental collaboration ahead of the AU–EU Summit.
